Museum Presents Free Kids’ Crafternoons Program in January

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum presents free events for children on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

On Saturday, January 7, 2023, the museum will host “Watercolor Winter Wonderland,” where kids can follow along with a guided painting activity. Recommended for kids ages 7 and up, the program will take place from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Citrus Sertoma announces Golf 4 Kids 2022 winners

Citrus Sertoma Golf Tournament “Golf for Kids” held at Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club, the Oaks Course on Sunday, November 20, 2022, was a day of golf and giving back to the community.

Taking first-place was the team of: Eric Avery, Brandon Avery, Arthur Avery and not shown Bob Postelli; second-place team of: Ashton Newhart, William Newhart, Don Boylanm, and Michael Whitaker; and the third-place team of: Dennis Pfeiffer, Richard Marson, Tom Ryan, and not shown Jose Fuxa.

CF accepting artist proposals for new campus art

OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 27, 2022) — The College of Central Florida has received a grant to fund the design and installation of a new piece of art at one of its campus locations. All artists are welcome to submit proposals for consideration.

CF speaker recalls Rosewood 100 years later

OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2022) — January 1, 2023, will mark the 100th anniversary of the Rosewood massacre, in which at least five Black residents of the small Levy County community died.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, the College of Central Florida will host Lizzie Robinson Jenkins, founder of the Real Rosewood Foundation, who will recount her family’s stories of the massacre. The community is invited to this free presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center, 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala.

Citrus County voters pick winners, losers

Citrus County voters on Tuesday voted for their favorite candidates during the Aug. 23 primary election.

According to the Citrus County Supervisor of Elections, there are 120,239 registered voters and 31.43 percent of them turned out Also, 137,789 ballots were counted.

All votes have been counted in all 31 precincts, including votes by mail and early votes.

Avery Named Citrus Sertoma 2022 Golf 4 Kids Tournament Chair

Citrus Sertoman Mark Avery has been named Tournament Chair for the November 20, 2022 “Golf 4 Kids” Tournament at Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club, the Oaks Course.

Mark has been with Citrus Sertoma for the past nineteen years and during his tenure has served as club president for five terms, sergeant at arms for five terms, chairman of the board for three terms and received his Tenure Award in 2013.
