OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 27, 2022) — The College of Central Florida has received a grant to fund the design and installation of a new piece of art at one of its campus locations. All artists are welcome to submit proposals for consideration.

District FY 2023 budget funds water resources projects

On Tuesday, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s (District) Governing Board adopted a $211.7 million budget for fiscal year (FY) 2023, including approximately $90.6 million for the Cooperative Funding Initiative and District grants for water resources projects.

CF renames Citrus Campus after Florida Senate president

OCALA, Fla. (July 6, 2022) ­­— The College of Central Florida has honored Florida Senate President Wilton Simpson with the renaming of the Citrus Campus. The CF District Board of Trustees approved the renaming at its meeting today.

DeSantis signs bill dedicating more than $44 million in support for Florida foster families

THE CENTER SQUARE -- Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday signed a bill into law dedicating $44 million in support to Florida foster families.

At a news conference held at Miami-Dade College, he said, “signing the bill should leave no doubt … that this state stands committed to the proposition that every life counts. All these kids deserve an opportunity and we’re going to do what we can to make sure that their dreams and hopes and aspirations can become a reality and a loving home.”

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday night reported that 15-year-old juvenile female who was reported missing on March 14 has now been found.

Kellie Worrick was last seen at 11 p.m. on March 14 in the area of Crystal River.

Oviedo man sentenced to life in prison for sexual battery on child

On March 15, in the courtroom of the Honorable Judge Richard “Ric” Howard, a jury found 34-year-old Rapheal Malik Akbar Arnold of Oviedo guilty on one count of Capital Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12.
