National parks across the U.S. span more than 85 million acres of land and provide the perfect setting for a relaxing stroll to more adrenaline-fueled activities; but which of these national parks are the best for the most common outdoor activities?
A new study has named Everglades National Park the best park for Bird Watching in the U.S.!
The team at Travel Lens have looked at national park entrance fees, recreational visitor numbers, the distance to the closest city, and TripAdvisor reviews to award each park with an overall score out of 10, revealing the best national parks in the U.S. alongside which parks are the most popular.
It’s no surprise that the Everglades National Park has been named the best park for birdwatching - the park is well known for being the home of more than 360 species of birds. Not only is the park famous for its species of birds, but also for the vast number of endangered animals living on the land such as the Manatee, the American Crocodile and also the Florida Panther.
For elsewhere, the research also revealed:
🏆 Great Smoky Mountain in North Carolina and Tennessee has been crowned the most popular park, with over 14 million recreational visitors in 2021. Whereas, Gates of the Arctic in Alaska has been revealed as the least popular, with only 7,362 visitors in 2021.
🗺️ Joshua Tree in California has been named the best-located national park, only 0.2 miles from the nearest city.
🏞️ Zion in Utah has been revealed as the most beautiful national park in the US, being awarded an overall beauty score of 7.87.
